Fifteen hours of training for $50.00

Three-hours classes one day a week for five weeks

Most topics covered in the classes below will apply to all versions of MS Windows, from Windows XP (the current version).
Our classroom computers use Windows XP.
 If you have an earlier version or Vista version on your home computer you will notice some differences.

NOTE: The Intro to Computers Class is a prerequisite for all other Classes.

 

Introduction to Computers                        5 days class, One day a week for 5 weeks

For the interested Senior, from novice to the experienced computer owner who wants to enjoy his / her computer.

The class uses a hands-on approach to gain skills using the mouse, keyboard, and computer tools,

including file management, word processing and other applications.

Prerequisite:  Basic typing skills. 

 


Intro Email and the Internet                       5 days class, One day a week for 5 weeks

•     What the Internet is and how it works

•     Browsers and use of Internet Explorer

•     Search Engines and how to use them

•     E-mail and address book using Outlook Express

•     Internet Security

Prerequisites:  Must have completed Intro to Personal Computers; access to a computer with Windows and Internet access.

 


Exploring Windows XP                                  5 days class, One day a week for 5 weeks

•     Create, name, move and delete files and folders

•     Work with multiple open windows

•     Search for files and folders       

•     System backup and restore            

•     Maintain your hard drive                   

Prerequisite:  Must have completed Intro to Personal Computers; access to a computer with Windows XP

 


Intro to Microsoft Works Suite 2005                   5 days class, One day a week for 5 weeks

•     Use MS Word basics (writing letters)

•     Spreadsheet basics (tracking money, creating charts)

•     Database basics (names & addresses etc.)

•     Use of templates and wizards

Prerequisites:  Must have completed Intro to Personal Computers; access to a computer with Windows and Microsoft Works Suite 2005

 


Microsoft Word Processing, Part I                  5 days class, One day a week for 5 weeks

Creating and editing documents, organizing files and folders,

creating flyers using ClipArt and WordArt, using the Spelling Checker,

setting tabs, and creating simple tables.

Prerequisite:  Introduction to Computers


Microsoft Word Processing, Part II                5 days class, One day a week for 5 weeks

More in-depth word-processing including Templates and forms,

columns, headers and footers, the Paint Program, Mail merge and tables,

envelopes and labels, greeting cards and more.

Prerequisite:  Word Processing, Part I

 


Digital Photo Imaging                                       5 days class, One day a week for 5 weeks

Review basic camera settings; how to transfer photos to your computer and organize your photos using Adobe PhotoShop Elements; learn basic photo editing techniques.
 

Prerequisites: Must have completed Intro to Personal Computers and Windows XP; access to a computer with Windows and a  photo processing program, Adobe PhotoShop Elements 4.0 recommended.


Photo Restoration                                          5 days (back to back 5-day cycles

Learn the advanced photo editing tools available in Adobe Photoshop Elements to restore old photos or modify new ones.

Prerequisites: Must have completed Intro to Personal Computers and Windows XP; access to a computer with Windows and a  photo processing program, Adobe PhotoShop Elements 4.0 recommended.


 

Introduction to Genealogy                              5 days class, One day a week for 5 weeks

Learn how to research your genealogy using the internet and Family Tree Maker software.

Prerequisites:  Must have completed Intro to Personal Computers and email and the internet classes; access to a computer with Windows.


Writing Your Life Story                                   5 days class, One day a week for 5 weeks

Using an Internet tool designed to help writing a biography, record your life experiences and publish them in a book form.

Prerequisites:  Must have completed Intro to Personal Computers and email and the internet classes; access to a computer with Windows.
